Hi, my name is Joshua Reid and I am glad you have visited my website! I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Tennessee STEM Education Center working under the supervision of Dr. Gregory Rushton. I completed my doctoral program in 2020 under the guidance of Dr. Grant Gardner at Middle Tennessee State University. My dissertation was titled "Biology Graduate Students' Perceptions and Experiences of the Research-Teaching Nexus". I earned my undergraduate degree from Athens State University in Biology (2014) and a Master of Science from Alabama A&M in Molecular Biology and Genetics (2016). During my masters I studied differential epigenetic modifications in Gossypium sp. (cotton) when exposed to salinity stress. In my free time I enjoy reading science fiction novels and visiting various informal science education centers (i.e., zoos, aquariums, national parks). I have experienced a plethora of national and state parks, of which the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is my favorite. |
"You frequently state, and in your letter you imply, that I have developed a completely one-sided outlook and look at everything and think of everything in terms of science. Obviously my method of thought and reasoning is influenced by a scientific training—if that were not so my scientific training will have been a waste and a failure." ~Rosalind Franklin |
